OUR COMMUNITY
PARENTS AND CITIZENS’ ASSOCIATION
The parents and citizens Association (P&C) is a group of members from the school community who work together for the benefit of the school and its students. The P&C does this through providing assistance in the classrooms, assisting with the maintenance of the grounds, working in partnership with the principal in planning the school’s program and resources, and acting as the voice of the parents and members of the Petrie State School community.
The P&C actively raises money to contribute to the learning environment for the students at Petrie State School. This money is used to buy much needed classroom, computer, and playground equipment, as well as to support various student and other school based activities. The P&C also operates the school’s tuckshop.
The P&C meets on the third Monday of each month at 7.00pm in the school staffroom. This meeting is where we discuss our hopes, our vision, and our suggestions to make Petrie State School an even better experience for the students.
The success of the P&C depends on the support it receives from the school community, through the support of its fundraising activities, and the active involvement of the community at its meetings.
You are urged to get involved in the activities of the P&C.

TUCKSHOP
The Tuckshop Committee operates the Tuckshop at this school. They rely on the help given by interested parents to make it successful. Please contact the tuckshop to offer your assistance.
The school Tuckshop operates daily. A menu is available from the tuckshop and orders are made by pre-ordering each morning by 9am.

  • 8.00am to 1.50pm Fridays (First and Second breaks)
ORDERS MUST BE PLACED AT THE TUCKSHOP BEFORE 9AM
The Tuckshop operates on a bag system. Please use a paper bag and label it clearly with your child’s name and class and items to be ordered. Separate bags are required for each break. Bags are available at a cost of 10 cents.
Children in Years 1 to 3 collect their orders at the Tuckshop window.
Children in Years 4 to 7 collect Class Baskets just before first break.
Hot food will NOT be available over the counter during lunch breaks.
Ice Blocks are NOT to be ordered through the bag system – they can be bought at First Break (and Second Break on Fridays).
Please note: The Tuckshop cannot heat or reheat food brought from home
Every effort is made to make sure your child receives what is ordered, however if something is unavailable an appropriate substitute is offered.
If there are special food requirements or you have any questions, please call at the Tuckshop and ask.
Children presenting $20.00 or more at the Tuckshop will be required to report to the School Office for approval.
“FORGOTTEN LUNCH”
If a child approaches the Tuckshop and states that he/she has ‘forgotten their lunch’, he/she will be sent to the Office where a parent will be contacted. If you advise us to supply lunch for your child, it will be as requested. If a parent is unavailable, a standard lunch will be supplied.
Standard Lunch consists of: Vegemite/Peanut Butter/ Honey or Jam Sandwich, Apple or Orange and a Juice popper or bottle of Water. The cost is $3.60.
We will then send an invoice home with your child advising the total amount to be paid. It is expected that this money will be forwarded to the Tuckshop the next school day.
FREE FRUIT FRIDAY – 2ND BREAK
On Fridays we offer the children a variety of FREE sliced fruits and endeavour to encourage them to develop healthy eating choices and maybe try something they have not tasted before.
