WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
A very warm welcome to Petrie State School. The information contained in this web site is to introduce you to our school. It touches on the way we operate, our vision, our expectations, and our partnerships. We trust that this will assist in the transition of your child or children.
The school opened in 1874, it has a colourful and rich history. Currently there are 554 primary students enrolled. There are twenty-two general teaching spaces, two computer labs, one music room, one special needs/learning support room and one resource centre. Instrumental Music (percussion, wind, strings) lessons are conducted in the hall. The school Band, Choir and Vocal Group have a very successful comprehensive program. Japanese is offered to Years 6&7. All sporting opportunities are offered.
The curriculum is developed under an outcomes philosophy, all eight key learning areas are addressed with technology embedded within the learning process so as to enhance the desired outcomes.
Primary school is a very special part of a child’s life, which can be enhanced by developing productive partnerships with families. We will give you every opportunity to be involved with your child’s education.
I know that your child will enjoy his or her schooling at Petrie State School.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Administration.
